  1. We have a lot of things in common, Ryan. Conveying negative feelings into art and releasing them purifyiend into the atmosphere… We have that in common… and other things, I believe…

  2. Don’t mind too much my English errors and don,t despise me for that. I’m sure you’ll make a lot of errors in my native language, too…

  3. I just added you to my blogroll. We have very very similar topics that we cover. Depression is my big one today. Heartbreak has induced it.

    cheers

  4. I understand depression. It tears you up. I stuck to the meds and I licked it. I sincerely hope you do as well. All the BEST!!! =Paul

  5. I don´t know why, Ryan, but after seeing your header and the words above, as you started counting your blood composition, I was sure that the total would more than 100%… or less than -100%!
Strange, isn´t? I guess you sound to me as if you were much much more than the sum of your parts…

  6. hello Ryan..

  7. Merry Christmas Ryan!

  9. Hi Ryan, I’m writing to ask your kind permission to use your photo “battlefield” in a poster design contest. The poster must convey “environmental awareness” and I have a concept that your photo would fit really well. I don’t have a budget for this but I can feature your name prominently along the bottom of the poster. Let me know what you think. Here’s more info about the poster contest:

Thank you so much, I think your work is great:

  10. I would be honored to have my work featured in your project. No monetary compensation is ever necessary for my art, however I always ask for both my name on the final product, noticeable and legible, and a copy of the final product mailed to me for personal ownership. Feel free to use the photo, and please send me a copy of your work to 53 CHERRY STREET #1, SOMERVILLE, MA 02144.

Thank you so much for asking and living.

  11. Thanks for your email and permission Ryan, much appreciated. I guess we went in another direction entirely and are using other imagery. If you send me your email address I’ll show you what we ended up with. Again many thanks and keep on doing what you’re doing. Best, TB

  12. Ryan, Just a quick look at your stuff and I can honestly say that, as a former teacher, I’m tremendously pleased at what you’ve accomplished with all your talent. Good for you.

Are you living in Somerville? I was interviewed on the local access cable tv last Sept. or Nov. Here’s a couple links where you might find the interview:

These will probably be print versions.

And here’s a poem for all my old students:

    LINT

It doesn’t bother me to have
    lint in the bottoms of pant pockets;
it gives the hands something to do,
especially since I no longer hold
    shovel, hod, or hammer
in the daylight hours of labor
and haven’t, in fact, done so
in twenty-five years. A long time
to be picking lint from pockets.
Perhaps even long enough to have
    gathered sacks full of lint
    that could have been put
to good use, maybe spun into yarn
to knit a sweater for my wife’s
    Christmas present, or strong thread
whirled and woven into a tweedy jacket.
    Imagine entering my classroom
in a jacket made from lint.
    Who would believe it?
    Yet there are stranger things—
the son of a bricklayer with hands
    so smooth they’re only fit
    for picking lint.

The poem has been reprinted widely and will next appear in former US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser’s newspaper column, called American Life in Poetry. So I guess it’s a good poem. But you’ll have to decide that for yourself. Ha.

  15. hey i wanna use one of your drawings as a tattoo……..it’s one of the hawk pics

    • thanks so much for your interest in getting the tattoo! I’d love to have my art used for tattoos. All I’d ask is if you got it done, please send me a picture of it. It obviously makes me feel pretty special for someone to appreciate my art that much so I’d love to see a final product on you. ryancbrothers@yahoo.com
